The Town of Gilbert, in partnership with the Gilbert Historical Society, will be
holding its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 10th, 2008 on the
lawn at the Gilbert Municipal Center to honor and
recognize our local Veterans. The guest speaker for this year's ceremony
is Frank Schmuck, Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame Society President.
This year the ceremony has been recognized as a 2008 Veterans Day Regional Site
by the Veterans Day National Committee.
The Mesquite High School Band will start playing patriotic music at 11:00 AM.
The ceremony will begin at 11:30 AM and last for approximately 30 minutes.
Following the ceremony, a complimentary lunch will be served to all in
attendance. Everyone is invited to attend.
Speaker Biography
Frank Schmuck was inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame in 2004 and today serves as the President of the Society representing the recipients. Under Frank's leadership and with the support of his fellow recipients the Society organized as a social and support group of past recipients to assist the Arizona Department of Veteran Services and Unified Arizona Veterans with operations and activities. Frank was awarded the U.S. Air Force's Air Medal for his service during the First Persian Gulf War and is currently employed as a Captain for Southwest Airlines. Frank and is wife, Andrea, reside in Tempe, where he is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Order of the World Wars, Jewish War Veterans and the American Legion, and is active in numerous civic and charitable organizations.
